Silverfish
Silverfish are a pest of paper items and some fabrics. They are nocturnal and infrequently seen - they typically inhabit cupboards and the cavity areas of the building.
Excellent control results can be obtained using pyrethroid dusts and micro-mists.
Bees
Honey-bees frequently lodge in wall cavities, or settle as a swarm on or near buildings. In these circumstances they may present a danger to humans and animals.
Treatment usually consists of removal or elimination of the colony.
Where possible, all wax and honey should be removed to prevent re-infestation by other bees - and entry points blocked off.
Rodents
The most common species are Black Rats, Norway Rats and House Mice.
All three species are pests of buildings, and besides eating and spoiling foodstuffs and damaging electical wiring, present a significant threat to human health through transmission of disease.
A survey to determine entry points and food sources should be carried out prior to any control procedures. Baiting and/or trapping is the usual method of control. Regular monthly/quarterly maintenance services are essential- particularly for commercial and industrial premises.
If possible, blocking-off entry points should be attempted.
